taking infants swimming

Need infant/toddler activity ideas?
Any ideas for things to do in 100 degree Houston, Texas heat and humidity with a 15 month and 3 month old? I am new to being a stay at home mom and I need things that cost little to no money that I can safely do with both my boys. It’s just tooo hot for parks and too hard to take both swimming during the day with DH at work. Many of the play groups I have found have activities mostly older toddlers that can at least walk (my oldest still only crawls). Thanks in advance!
make a ‘tent.’ Place a blanket over a table and let the boys crawl around.
paint, – you can make your own editable paint out of unsweetened Kool Aid. Just aid a little water, and paint brushes. If your youngest son eats the paint, it’s no big deal.
Same with Jello, just use it before it sets.
Just know that it might turn your kids funny colors. But it wont hurt them.
You can paint with a paint brush, or with anything you can put dip paint. Some of my favorites are leaves, fingers, close pins, bubble wrap, and tissue paper. – Oh and match box cars. Put paint on the wheels and drive them around a piece of paper.
You can paint the sidewalk with water early in the morning or later in the evening.
read a book, and have the kids act it out.
make puppets and have the puppets read a book – the kids can help make the puppet(s)
bowling with soda bottles. – just need a ball and empty bottles.
cook – the kids can mix things together.
play Simon says.
Call out animal names and have the kids act like the animal. – Example: Call dog, the kids bark and crawl around the floor.
make a music out of pots and pans. (bang on them and sign silly songs.)
sing the ‘jump’ song:
Jump Bobby, Jump a little higher, Jump Bobby, jump a little higher. Jump. Jump. Jump. – (replace the name with your child’s)
Google search children activities, children’s art projects, preschool activities, – to find more ideas
