h1n1 deaths infants

H1N1 flu vaccine for my preemie?
My 16 month old was born at 27 weeks prematurely and spent 2 months in the hospital. She is pretty healthy now. Her dr is recommending she gets the H1N1 flu vaccine. We have had our seasonal flu shots but I’m scared to death for her to take the H1N1 flu shot. The reason that i am against it is of course the vaccine is so new. But it seems like I have more reasons for her to get the shot. For example, her prematurity and she’s in daycare. By the way, she catches every little bug in daycare. She just got over a bout of RSV in which she had to use an albuterol inhaler to get through. I just want to know if anyone else out there has gotten this for their infants/toddlers? How do you feel about it?
If she does okay with the seasonal flu shot and you are not opposed to getting a seasonal flu shot, then you have no real reason to not get the h1n1 shot. The only difference between the flu shot she has already had and the h1n1 is the viral genetic material. if she catches h1n1, she’ll have that same viral genetic material in her body, anyway. Most of the scary hype over the shot isn’t coming from the medical community.
After weeks of waiting, my 2 year old finally got the h1n1 vaccine.
